Tarzan's New York Adventure Poster One Sheet Original Weissmuller
About This Poster: Tarzan's New York Adventure Poster Australian One Sheet Original 1948 Re-Release art printed by A Chromo Print Litho. Note that the poster says "A Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Masterpiece reprint" at bottom left. This was a terminology used by MGM at this time for some re-releases, and it has caused some collectors to be confused! This poster is the original poster from the re-release of this movie in 1948, 6 years after its first release, and is NOT a "reprint" but rather a re-release for cinema distribution. This art is considered to be far better art than the original art that was released for the first release poster.
Tarzan's New York Adventure (also known as Tarzan Against the World) is a 1942 American adventure film from MGM, produced by Frederick Stephani, directed by Richard Thorpe, that stars Johnny Weissmuller and Maureen O'Sullivan. This was the sixth and final film in MGM's Tarzan series and was the studio's last Tarzan feature until 1957's Tarzan and the Lost Safari. Although Tarzan's New York Adventure includes scenes set in New York, as well as the customary jungle sequences, it is yet another Tarzan production primarily shot on MGM's back lots. Of interest is the uncredited appearance (as a circus roustabout) of Elmo Lincoln, who in 1918 was the first actor to star as Tarzan.
