The film also nominated in Best Album of Instrumental Score Written for a Motion Picture or Television Special. The film was chosen by Time magazine and National Board of Review as one of the top ten films of 1983.The film went on to gross more than $40,218,899 at the US and Canadian box office on a budget of $12 million and was amongst the top 20 highest-grossing films of the year at the box office. Internationally it grossed $28.5 million for a worldwide total of $68.7 million.
