Buttercup Chain Poster Daybill Original 1970 Jane Asher.The Buttercup Chain is a 1970 British drama film directed by Robert Ellis Miller and starring Hywel Bennett, Jane Asher (who appears nude in the film), and Leigh Taylor-Young.The film was shot at Shepperton Studios and on location in England, Sweden and Spain. The film's sets were designed by the veteran art director Wilfred Shingleton. It was entered into the 1970 Cannes Film Festival.This was considered a major prestige counterculture movie for Columbia, and their first choice for director was the young Michael Reeves, hot from the success of his horror pic, Witchfinder General (1968). However, his sudden death at age 25 ended that possibility and Robert Ellis stepped in instead.
