Daybill Poster Eureka Stockade.In 1853, the government instigated moves designed to drive goldminers from the Eureka Hill goldfields. The miners showed their opposition to the move by revolting. Director Harry Watt, after the brilliant "The Overlanders" in 1946, offers a spectacular account of the infamous Eureka Stockade and more importantly, the events leading up to it. Chips Rafferty is fantastic in the lead role as reluctant hero Lalor in the film.
